BEAUTY, DELUSION & POWER
KALOPSIA IS A WORD OF GREEK ORIGIN THAT REFERS TO THE DELUSION OF PERCEIVING THINGS AS MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THEY ACTUALLY ARE.
IT'S A WORD THAT HAS A CERTAIN POETIC QUALITY TO IT, CONJURING UP IMAGES OF THE WAY IN WHICH OUR MINDS CAN DECEIVE US INTO SEEING THE WORLD IN A CERTAIN WAY.
While kalopsia is often used to describe a type of delusion, it can also be seen as a metaphor for the power of perception and the way in which we can shape our own reality. It reminds us that beauty is not just an objective quality that exists in the world, but is also a subjective experience that is shaped by our own perceptions.
