KALOPSIA ATTENDING BUSINESS IN PARLIAMENT CONFERENCE

Kalopsia’s Managing Director Adam Robertson got invited by Shirley-Anne Somerville from the Scottish National Party on the 2nd of February 2023 to the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.

Hosted jointly by the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Government, the Business in the Parliament conference aims to facilitate engagement between businesses and politicians.

The first Business in the Parliament Conference (BIPC) was held in 2004.

It was started by the Scottish Parliament’s then Enterprise & Culture Committee (now Economy and Fair Work Committee) to bring the worlds of business and politics closer together.

That ethos of encouraging dialogue and greater understanding between the two communities remains at the heart of the event.
The theme of the 15th Business in Parliament Conference was about the be “Sustainable Recovery: Maximising the Opportunities of the Next Decade”.

The event was chaired by the Presiding Officer, Alison Johnstone and featured speeches from:

  • Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister and

  • Claire Baker, Convener of the Economy and Fair Work Committee

Our keynote speaker this year was Andrew Murphy, Chief Operating Officer of the John Lewis Partnership.
